The Competition Policy and Consumer Rights Research Center under the Competition Committee has evaluated the results of the Business Activity Index (BAI), which reflects the business environment and sentiment of enterprises, for the first quarter of 2026, as well as expectations for the second quarter of 2026.

More than 380 large enterprises in the production and service sectors across the country participated in the BAI survey as respondents via the Committee’s unified information system Fair Tech.

According to the survey results, the composite BAI stood at 55.1 points in Q1 2026. At the same time, the forecast indicator for Q2 2026 is expected to reach 56.2 points.

According to the internationally recognized PMI (Purchasing Managers’ Index) methodology, a BAI value above 50 points indicates sustained economic growth and business activity.

Regionally, the highest results were recorded in Khorezm (59.5) and Syrdarya (58.8), while relatively lower indicators were observed in Tashkent (51.5) and Jizzakh (50.6).

Overall, the BAI results indicate that economic activity in the country remains stable, and business entities have positive expectations regarding further growth in the coming quarter. In addition, 49% of respondents noted that they plan to expand their business activities through investments in innovation in Q2 2026.
