Beef Market Analysis | Part 2

14 October 2026 10:59 18 Print

Our analysis indicates that the cost of beef production varies significantly depending on cattle breed, farming methods and feed costs.

For example, the annual cost of raising a single head of pedigree cattle aged 6–8 months in household farms is estimated at UZS 9 million to UZS 10 million, while the cost of producing 1 kg of beef ranges from UZS 113,000 to UZS 116,000. In commercial farming, more efficient production methods help reduce this cost to UZS 105,000 to UZS 110,000 per kg, which is UZS 6,000 to UZS 8,000 lower.

At the retail level, beef is purchased at an average price of UZS 120,000 to UZS 130,000 per kg and sold for UZS 130,000 to UZS 140,000 per kg.

Beyond production and retail costs, rising feed prices have also contributed to beef price increases exceeding core inflation in recent years. In August 2026, compared with the same month in 2025, wheat prices rose by 13%, bran prices by 11%, while oilseed meal and sunflower husk prices increased by 1–2%.

Reducing beef production costs requires optimizing feed expenses, improving cattle productivity, and expanding modern commercial livestock farms. Measures in these areas will help increase production efficiency and ensure price stability in the domestic market.
