About the Centre
Competition Policy and Consumer Rights Research Center under Competition Promotion and Consumer Protection Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan was established by the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 303/10 dated 21 July 2023.
The Centre is considered a scientific organisation in the form of an institution.
Objectives and functions
Conducting research to analyse the competitive environment in commodity and financial markets and industries, analyse existing barriers to market entry and develop proposals for the development of competition.
Conducting fundamental scientific research on competition policy, public procurement, stock exchange, consumer protection and improvement of the advertising market, ensuring the introduction of effective foreign experience in the field of competition and its harmonisation with the national system.
Preparation of proposals and programmes for radical reform of natural monopolies, identification of markets where there is an opportunity to develop competition in these spheres.
Elaboration of strategic programmes of economic analysis, regulation of monopoly and development of competitive environment, elaboration of methodological foundations of the Competitiveness Development Index and ensuring its constant maintenance, elaboration of proposals on improvement of the Republic's position in other competition indices.
Attracting grants from international financial organisations and other organisations to implement projects in the field of research on competition policy and natural monopolies, consumer protection and advertising market regulation.
Raising the qualifications and capacity of the personnel, including development of methodological manuals for professional development and retraining of employees of the Committee and its territorial bodies and antimonopoly control specialists in relevant organisations, organisation of professional development courses.
