Competition Committee Examines Cases of Compensation Payments to Passengers for Flight Delays

11 September 2026 10:28 107 Print

The number of consumer complaints regarding air transport services in the first half of 2026 increased 4.1 times compared to the same period last year, exceeding 300 complaints.

The complaints included:

- flight delays lasting several hours;
failure to provide passengers with timely and accurate information;
provision of poor-quality services;
charging fees for services that were not provided.

According to the analysis, in some cases, when flights were delayed due to the carrier’s fault, passengers were not offered compensation or an alternative solution. This has a significant impact on citizens’ time, finances, and plans.

Based on publicly available sources, the Committee is examining cases involving compensation payments to passengers when domestic flights are delayed due to the carrier’s fault, as well as compliance with consumer rights in this area.

In light of the above, airlines are requested to provide complete information on their digital platforms and ensure that it complies with legislation. Citizens are also encouraged to contact the Competition Committee with their suggestions and complaints regarding this area.
