Beef Market: Prices, Imports, and the Outlook for the Coming Months
The Competition Policy and Consumer Rights Research Center analyzed Uzbekistan’s beef market, including domestic production, import structure, price dynamics, and future trends.
Key findings:
Domestic supply: Annual demand for beef averages 1.3 million tonnes, of which 92.5 percent is supplied by domestic production and 7.5 percent by imports.
Import growth: Over the past five years, beef imports have increased 7.2-fold. From January to September 2026, 131,900 tonnes of chilled and frozen beef were imported.
Price dynamics: In September 2026, beef prices increased by 1.7 percent, while the year-on-year increase reached 16.2 percent.
Forecast: According to the econometric model, provided that no external or domestic shocks occur, the average price of 1 kg of beef is expected to reach around UZS 130,000 in December 2026.
To ensure price stability in the market, it is important to improve the productivity of domestic livestock farming, introduce modern genomic analysis technologies in animal breeding, and strengthen the feed supply base.
