An Analysis of the Market for Water Filtration and Purification Equipment and Devices Has Been Conducted

The Competition Policy and Consumer Rights Research Center under the Competition Committee studied the competitive environment in the market for water filtration and purification equipment and devices, as well as the level of saturation of the domestic market with locally produced goods. In 2024, 708 enterprises imported 853 thousand units of water filtration and purification equipment and devices from 41 countries, with a total value of USD 47.7 million. Of the total imports, 73 percent came from China, 11 percent from Russia, 9 percent from Turkey, and the remaining 7 percent from 38 other countries. An analysis of import concentration showed that the top 5 importing enterprises accounted for a combined 46 percent of total imports. As part of the analysis, the level of competition in the market for the production of water filtration and purification equipment and devices was assessed using the internationally recognized HHI (Herfindahl–Hirschman Index). The index result amounted to 5,819 points, indicating that the competitive environment in this product market is underdeveloped. An Analysis of Global Egg Prices and Export Opportunities Has Been Conducted

The Competition Policy and Consumer Rights Research Center under the Competition Committee conducted an analysis of retail egg prices in the global market, as well as promising export destinations for Uzbekistan. According to data from the international service Numbeo, an analysis of average retail prices for eggs (10 pieces) across countries shows that the lowest prices are currently observed in the following countries: • India — USD 0.75 • Bangladesh — USD 0.97 • Pakistan — USD 0.99 At the same time, the highest egg prices are recorded in the following countries: • Switzerland — USD 6.6 • New Zealand — USD 5.4 • Denmark — USD 4.26 • Netherlands — USD 4.23 • Australia — USD 4.15 According to this ranking, the average retail price for 10 eggs in Uzbekistan is USD 1.38, placing the country 88th among 101 countries. For comparison: • Kazakhstan — USD 1.43 (86th place) • Russia — USD 1.45 (85th place) In addition, based on an analysis of the UN Commodity Trade Statistics Database, 131 countries imported egg products worth a total of USD 4.8 billion in 2024. The analysis also revealed high external demand for egg products in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Israel, and Azerbaijan. At the same time, Uzbekistan has a comparative advantage in exporting eggs to these countries (excluding transport costs and tariff and non-tariff restrictions) compared to other exporting countries. The Competition Policy and Consumer Rights Research Center ranked among the TOP-20 Think Tanks

The nationwide movement “Yuksalish” has published the analytical ranking of think tanks operating in Uzbekistan based on the results of 2025. The ranking evaluates the activity of research and analytical centers based on open sources as well as their level of engagement with the public. The Competition Policy and Consumer Rights Research Center under the Competition Committee has been included in the TOP-20 think tanks of the Republic of Uzbekistan. During 2025, the Center achieved the following results:•more than 150 research and analytical materials were published;•the official website recorded over 22,000 visits;•the Center’s materials were cited more than 400 times. These results represent another recognition of the effectiveness of the Center’s analytical work in the fields of competition policy, antimonopoly regulation, and consumer rights protection.
